Westfield – Senate Republican Leader Tom Kean issued the following statement regarding political insider Vin Gopal’s announced intention to seek the Democratic nomination for Senate in the 11th legislative district.
“Jennifer Beck is a fierce advocate for Monmouth County and independent reformer in the New Jersey Senate chamber. She has always stood up to do what is right for her constituents. Her opposition to multiple Democrat tax proposals and her advocacy for women’s health funding have been an invaluable contribution to the communities that she represents.”
Vin Gopal is the outgoing Democrat Monmouth County Chairman, coming off a devastating 2016 loss at the county level where he will retire with an 0-14 record of trying to win Freeholder and constitutional offices in Monmouth County.
“Democrat Chairman Gopal is already meeting with party bosses and taking his cues from political insiders from outside Monmouth County. The voters of the 11th legislative district have rejected his partisan ways once before, and I expect they will do so again with great enthusiasm.”
Gopal ran unsuccessfully in the 11th legislative district for Assembly in 2011 where he came in a distant 3rd place, losing by over 3,000 votes.
“Senator Beck has been a successful voice for Monmouth County because she works hard and she’s willing to reach across the aisle to get the job done. She’s about getting results, not playing politics.”
